Our new Zero Waste project once again demonstrates Shop&Roll Group’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda through an innovative initiative: repurposing the renewal of profiles from the displays of leading home improvement retailer Leroy Merlin to give them a second life as tools for environmental workshops in schools and as benches for rest areas.
Over 800 kilograms of PVC were recovered to produce 2,400 keyrings for participants in Leroy Merlin’s Hazlo Verde educational initiative and two benches for Shop&Roll’s offices in Madrid and Zaragoza. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is estimated to have saved 85-90% of greenhouse gas emissions in the production of these materials.
At Shop&Roll, we offer the most complete and flexible range of supports for placing and communicating electronic labels and have been chosen as the supplier by Leroy Merlin for their implementation in all their stores. Taking advantage of this change, the two companies prepared this circular economy collaboration.
From Shop&Roll, we sent approximately 800 kilograms of PVC profiles removed from the stores in Gandía and Xàtiva (Valencia) to the nearby recycling centre CM Plastik, ensuring minimal transport impact and full traceability certification. There, the material was transformed into keyrings for distribution during the ninth edition of Leroy Merlin’s Hazlo Verde educational programme, which provides workshops to help primary, secondary, and basic vocational education students adopt sustainable and respectful behaviours.
We also created two benches that are being installed at Shop&Roll’s offices in Villanueva de Gállego (Zaragoza) and Rivas-Vaciamadrid (Madrid), inscribed with the message: “The best waste is the one that is not generated. Bench made from recovered profiles.” In this way, Shop&Roll continues to share its sustainability message with all employees and visitors.
We continue to advance towards the goal of embedding sustainability into our daily work and helping our clients and consumers become more sustainable too.
